Huawei CFO arrested in Canada, awaits US extradition

Meng Wanzhou, the CFO of Huawei, the world's biggest telecom gear producer and second-biggest cell phone creator, has been captured in Vancouver, Canada on doubt she abused U.S. exchange sanctions against Iran, as first detailed by The Globe and Mail.

Huawei affirmed the news with TechCrunch, including that Meng, the girl of Huawei organizer Ren Zhengfei, deals with unspecified indictments in the Eastern District of New York, where she had exchanged flights on her approach to Canada.

"The organization has been given next to no data with respect to the charges and doesn't know about any bad behavior by Ms. Meng," a representative for Huawei told TechCrunch. "The organization trusts the Canadian and US legitimate frameworks will at last achieve an equitable end. Huawei follows every single appropriate law and directions where it works, including relevant fare control and endorse laws and controls of the UN, US and EU."

Per The Globe and Mail, Meng, the organization's delegate executive, was captured on December 1; a safeguard hearing has just been set for Friday.

Strains between U.S. experts and Huawei have been high since 2016 and have gotten ugly as the U.S.- China exchange war has warmed up. Refering to national security concerns, President Donald Trump in August marked a bill that would prohibit government organizations from utilizing items and administrations from Huawei and its Chinese rival ZTE. In the interim, in an ongoing letter routed to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, U.S. administrators have urged Canada to keep Huawei out of its 5G designs.
